Israel’s dangerous escalation must be met by real action from international community

Sinn Féin MEP for Dublin Lynn Boylan has today condemned the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for breaking the ceasefire in Gaza and ordering “powerful strikes” on Gaza.

MEP Boylan said:

“Israel has repeatedly breached the ceasefire agreement and today has decided to recommence its brutal slaughter in Gaza.

“The so-called Trump peace plan is deeply flawed and not grounded in international law – including the principles of self-determination – but at least created a space for Palestinians in Gaza to breathe after two years of genocide.

“The European Union has been toying with the idea of taking their weak measures off the table.

“Now the EU must make clear that it will pursue those measures and propose a full range of sanctions on the genocidal state of Israel.

“ The ICC arrest warrants must be upheld and we must not allow Israel to continue to violate international law in every way imaginable and escape the consequences.

“Kaja Kallas must speak out against this and back up words with strong actions – including a full sanctions package similar to those proposed on Russia.”
