Sinn Féin MEP Lynn Boylan will write to the EU commission to demand they call for safe passage of the Sumud aid flotilla after it was attacked again last night.
The Dublin MEP said:
“There was 11 attacks on ships in the Sumud aid flotilla last night.
“One ship, ‘The Spectre’ – the ship carrying my comrade, Senator Chris Andrews, was attacked four times by drones.
“Explosions were heard on multiple ships, and communications are being jammed.
“I will be writing to the EU commission today and urging them to make immediate calls for the safe passage of this aid.
“These are civilian ships, that are carrying humanitarian aid for the starving people of Gaza.
“The EU must not stand idly by while innocent civilians are put in danger by doing what the EU hasn’t had the courage to do.
“I would also urge everyone to contact the Department of Foreign Affairs and urge them to intervene to protect the many Irish citizens, as well as all other civilians travelling as part of this peaceful flotilla.”
